The Palliative Care Department operates acts as consultation service to patients who has specialised palliative and supportive care needs within Eastern Health
About the role
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) Palliative Care Consult Team possesses an expert and authoritative knowledge of palliative care nursing and deep tacit understanding across this area of practice. The CNC is accountable for the effective clinical nursing management of people within Palliative and End of Life Care needs. CNC will consistently demonstrate superior consolidated clinical skills at a level of expertise as aligned to the EH Nursing Midwifery Domains of Practice.
The CNC may be the sole Registered Nurse within a service, or is accountable for leading a speciality team, which may be interdisciplinary in profile, The team leader role, where applicable, provides oversight for clinical quality and risk, service performance and care standards within the area of expertise. The CNC Influences and contributes to transformation of clinical services at Program and Site level, developing applying and promoting appropriate and innovative models of care. The CNC, acts as a clinical nursing resource and clinical advisor, to the specific clinical team and wider Eastern Health service providers.
The CNC leads team planning and development activities within the clinical specialty area and undertakes related projects and research and development activities to meet specified clinical nursing needs in the clinical discipline: at all times working within the professional standards, codes and behaviours that are legislated through the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), other relevant professional bodies and Eastern Health Policy, Standards and Practice Guidelines.

Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role you will possess
- Registered Nurse registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) via AHPRA
- Post-graduate qualification in area of Palliative Care
- Minimum of three years’ experience working in a Palliative Care Environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated record of achievement of quality service delivery
- Excellent communication and teaching skills: written, verbal and interpersonal.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse and complex professional workforce.
- Demonstrated ability to consult and collaborate with others and work as an effective member of a team to deliver organisational outcomes.
- Willing to work collaboratively with Clinical Nurse Consultants at other Eastern Health sites as required.
- High level of computer literacy · Holder of Victorian Driver’s License
