Each palliative care service recruits, trains and manages their own group of volunteers in a variety of roles. If you are interested in becoming a palliative care volunteer, you should contact the palliative care service in the area where you will be volunteering.

You can find your local palliative care service by using our services directory.

Your local palliative care service will provide you with more information about their volunteer intake processes. This process might include:

  • A written application
  • An interview
  • A police check
  • An orientation and training program
  • A placement interview on completion of the training.

They will also advise you about the support that is available for volunteers and any requirements for ongoing training.
