Summary
Banksia Palliative Care Service (Banksia) has a dynamic team of health professionals who together, make a difference every day. As a very busy non-for-profit community palliative care service, we are looking at expanding our Allied Health Team to support the needs of our clients and their families. Banksia provides a service in the North-East region of Melbourne, covering the council areas of Banyule, Nillumbik and Whittlesea. The office is situated in Heidelberg.
We are seeking applications for two part-time (0.4-0.8 eft) Social Workers - Pastoral Care and/or Bereavement experience would be highly valued. The right person will be highly motivated and passionate about their work, and keen to join a purposeful, cohesive and supportive workplace. Experience in Palliative Care is definitely an advantage, however not essential - we are looking for the right people to join our amazing team. We are willing to train and educate as we focus on achieving our goal to meet the needs of every palliative client in our region.

Selection Criteria
The successful candidate(s) will:
- Provide best practice, holistic psychosocial care to clients (and their families and carers) living with a progressive terminal illness, requiring specialist palliative care in the community.
- Have undergraduate degree in Social Work, with a minimum of 3 years post graduate experience.
- Have experience working in a community-based organisation (preferred but not essential).
- Be demonstrably experienced in providing psychosocial care/case management, care planning, loss and grief assessment, and counselling (experience working with children an advantage).
- Have a demonstrated ability to work autonomously, prioritise workload and respond effectively to competing demands while maintaining accountability.
- Be highly motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Agree to undertake a National Police Check and Working-with-Children certification.
- Hold a current and unrestricted driver’s license.
- Be a permanent Australian resident.
