It takes a special person to volunteer in palliative care. A person who is compassionate, courageous and willing to step outside of their comfort zone to support individuals and their families who are living with palliative conditions.
There are a range of ways that our volunteers can share their unique life experiences and skills in supporting our clients, their carers, as well as our team. You could:
- provide respite for carers
- offer companionship for clients in their homes
- support our bereavement services
- assist our office staff You may also have a special skill which you can offer to our service that we haven’t thought of yet.
What is offered
Banksia offers best-practice training, mentoring and ongoing support to our volunteers. We spend time getting to know each volunteer so that we can understand how to best apply their skills, and how to support them individually.
